When aperitif is served on a weekday at the Missionary International House (MIM) at la Guile, it means something is being celebrated. It could be a feast, an achievement, or an anniversary of a member of the community. Some other times like today, it is about a departure.
Surrounded by twelve members of the Guile community as well as members of the staff, Fr. Charles Kumar who has been up to now the team leader of the SMA International Media center, has been recalled to his Province in India.

For me, the mission and pastoral in SMA is a life experience centered on mission, self-sufficiency and community life. It helped me to observe the people in the situation by trying to accept them as they are in their culture. In the priestly retreat, Fr. William Joseph sma, our preacher asked a question "why you want to become a priest and give me five reasons? We thought that we could give many reasons but there was no solid reason. When I came for my first mission here, I understood that we cannot give but we can experience well.

The SMA-OLA hermeneutic seminar ended on the feast day of the Apostles Saint James, the birthday of Father Augustine Planque, SMA and Founder of the NDA Sisters. It is quite a symbol that stands on this day, where the participants continued and completed the work on hermeneutics.

On this sixth day of the SMA-OLA seminar, the participants experienced an extraordinary day. After 5 days at the Brésillac Centre, the sisters and fathers went on a pilgrimage with some very significant stops. The first was at the house of the OLA sisters in Hevié, where some of the older sisters live. It was a precious moment of reunion, filled with anecdotes, blessings and advice especially for the younger generation. Sister Justine Dzifa strongly exhorted to "obedience and love for the apostolate".

The SMA-NDA Hermeneutic Seminar is in its 5th day. It is a crucial day in that it is about putting into perspective the elements of history, experience, and the different contexts of the mission yesterday and today. To embrace this important day, the organizers did not skimp on the means. Indeed, they invited an expert in missiology, Father Daniel Ihunnia, MSP. He gave a magnificent presentation on the theme: What is happening to the first evangelization in today's changing contexts for missionary institutes?

Today Friday, July 22, the feast of Mary Magdalene, the participants took a step back in time to examine the history of our two institutes. The various study groups formed for this purpose presented the fruit of their research. Among the fields of research, we can note the Formation of missionaries, the organization of the Institutes, the context: Social, cultural, political, religious and ecclesial, the missionary animation and the image of Africa as presented in Europe.

This Thursday, July 21, the work focused on the data collected during the experiential phase. The experiential phase, the second step of the process towards 2026, took place from March 2021 to June 2022. The purpose of the experiential phase was to encourage members to individually reflect on, share, and celebrate together the missional experiences of the current generation of SMA and OLA.
